- What is the uncertainty in the cost and delivery time for your next fleet or ship?
- Do you want to determine more optimal pricing frameworks and levels for your transportation services?
- Do you need to estimate and better manage the uncertainty and risk related to the costs (and revenues) associated with large capital investments?
- Do you want to determine the impact of alternative transportation schedules?
These, and many more questions related to transportation can be supported using quantitative risk analysis and optimization techniques. Vose Consulting has extensive experience in modeling impact of macroeconomic scenarios such as globalization of markets, international economic integration, and removal of barriers to business and trade and increased competition on firm profitability. Vose Consulting can help transport operators use quantitative analysis to identify risks and new opportunities, optimize current operations and remove bottlenecks. At Vose Consulting we believe in partnering relationships with our clients: that is, we strive to structure our clients' use of our time to maximize their benefit. To that end we prefer to work, wherever possible, alongside the client, demonstrating and teaching as we go the methods we use and sharing as much of the work as possible with the clients' personnel. This maximizes the transfer of knowledge, so that the client is better able to understand our work, and more capable of doing future projects by themselves. We aim for long-term relationships with our clients.

Problem: The Dublin Light Railway System (LUAS) is the light rail system for Dublin and its suburbs. The LUAS was constructed between 2000 and 2004 to relieve the city traffic problem.

Problem: The client receives very regular delivery of explosive material by ship at its site on a narrow shared waterway. During delivery, movements of other shipping traffic are restricted by certain rules and regulations, resulting in delays and interruption to other shipping. The client was investigating the benefits of constructing an alternative berthing system designed to reduce the impact of their activities on other shipping. Vose Consulting was asked to perform such an analysis and provide a visual representation of the model to help in their discussions with the other waterway users.

Problem:
Over the past decade, industrial giants and European governments have strived to attain rail interoperability, so that trains can cross borders without stopping. Today, each country still has its own rail "language" for managing the movement of the trains on its network. In order to redress these incompatibilities, the European Rail Traffic Management System project has been set up to create unique signaling standards throughout Europe.
