Territory Optimization Model

Problem:

Pharma companies rely on reps to detail their products to physicians in assigned geographical territories. However, each territory may have different physicians populations, proportions of specialists, high prescribers, distances to travel, and market size. As rep salary is mostly based on actual performance, an equitable and efficient allocation of territories is key to the success of the promotion. The regional sales management for a large pharma company retained Vose Consulting to produce a tool for performing optimal territory assignment.
